The message is clear. If you are going on holiday in Norway during the next week, it might be a good idea to head for Northern Norway.
Mo i Rana gets the highest temperatures in the region, with up to 28 degrees Celsius on Friday. Tromsø also gets a warm start to the weekend, with a whopping 24 degrees, before the heat subsides a little in the following days, according to meteorologist on duty Aslaug Skålevik Valved at the Meteorological Institute.
– They got a later taste of summer than those in southern Norway, so the heat is well deserved, says Valved.

Low pressure over the weekend
According to Valved, there could be tropical days in Hamar on Wednesday and Thursday, where it is currently expected to be 29 degrees.
– The temperature will drop until the weekend when the precipitation settles in. Then it can drop to 20 to 22 degrees in the interior, she explains.
In southern Norway, it might be a good idea to enjoy the next few days of sunshine, because the weather is about to change. On Friday, low pressure is expected with a good deal of rain in Eastern Norway and up towards Trøndelag. This will also cause temperatures to drop.
– It is worth mentioning that the rain is long-awaited for the farmers in southern Norway. It is also important to reduce the risk of forest fire, says Valved, who points out that there is still a yellow warning for forest fire danger in several places in the country.
Meteorologists warn: – Seek shelter!
During the next few days, several localized afternoon showers may occur in the south, but these often do not last long enough to reduce the wildfire danger, according to the state meteorologist.
In Trøndelag, the weather will be somewhat changeable.
Gray in the west
– It will be a gray weekend in Western Norway, says Valved.
In Bergen, it will be just under 19 degrees on Wednesday, but this will not last long. At the weekend, low pressure will arrive, and the temperature will drop to between 15 and 17 degrees.
– There is a fairly high probability of rain in Western Norway throughout next week, says the state meteorologist.

Although good weather is reported in the north, there are a few things Valved asks people to be aware of.
– A north-easterly stiff gale is expected along the coast of Troms on Saturday and Sunday, which will stretch down towards Lofoten. There will therefore be wind along the coast, which you must be aware of if you are going out in a boat, she says.
There is also a local risk of sea fog along the coast.
