Last night, Færder in Vestfold and Oksøy in Agder had a tropical night, and many Norwegians have enjoyed the southern weather which has now set the standard for the summer holidays.
Now, unfortunately, the fine weather in southern Norway is over. This week, storms are expected in the eastern mountains, according to state meteorologist Charalampos Sarchosidis.
– The southern heat disappears and will not return immediately. Southern Norway has had good weather for quite some time, and after a period of warm temperatures, it is common for storms to come, Sarchosidis tells Dagbladet.
Færder and Oksøy have had a tropical night last night! ????️
The warm sea keeps the night temperature at the coast high ???????? Further inland it can be much colder – last night, for example, the temperature at Aurskog was as low as 8.6 degrees ????

The state meteorologist says that a low pressure in the eastern mountains is expected to come in over the country today and tomorrow.
– This actually applies to the entire area of østafjells. There will be quite heavy rain showers the next two days, and one must assume that there will be lightning and thunder, he says.
– Should postpone the bathing trips
Sarchosidis says this is not the time for hiking or swimming.
– This type of weather is very confusing, and there can be sudden and very powerful showers and some lightning. Thunderstorms thrive in warm weather and can develop in 20-30 minutes. This is not the time for mountain hikes, and one should also postpone the swimming trips until later in the week, he says.
Not everyone will experience this as strongly, and exactly where the storm will hit hardest is difficult for the state meteorologist to determine.
–
– Heavy showers are expected in the eastern mountains, but it is difficult to know exactly where it will hit locally. For example, there may be large local showers at Majorstua with lots of rain, while there is stay-at-home weather on Tøyen at the same time.
The storm comes in the form of a low pressure from Denmark that hits the area of Østafjells today and tomorrow.
- You can go to the website lyn.met.no to see where the lightning is at all times.
Storms in Rogaland
The storm will also come to Rogaland.
A danger warning has been announced for Rogaland from tomorrow. The storm will move further west from østafjells and Rogaland on Wednesday, but then it has weakened, Sarchosidis says.
We have sent a yellow warning for torrential rain in Rogaland ⚠️ From night to Tuesday to late Tuesday night heavy rain showers are expected. There are large local variations in intensity and quantity, and the weather can change quickly.

The whole of southern Norway can thus expect rain, thunder and lightning, but the strongest storm is expected in the eastern mountains from Agder and up to Dovre – in addition to Rogaland.
– Rain showers are also expected on Wednesday, but then it will move further inland and it will be sunny the rest of the week. It will be around 20 degrees in Eastern Norway on Friday, this is 10 degrees colder than it has been now.
The state meteorologist says that the danger warning for forest fires will disappear as soon as the rain comes, as more than enough precipitation is expected in the south of the country.

Southern weather in Trøndelag
The southern weather is moving north, and it is Trøndelag that can benefit from this the first days of the week.
– Trøndelag will probably be the weather winner in the next few days. They escape the storm, and there is a possibility of temperatures up to 30 degrees, says Sarchosidis.
Northern Norway will also have a long-awaited summer.
– It will be hot in Nordland the next few days with temperatures between 25 and 28 degrees. In the county, the weather will be fine until Thursday, he says.
However, it varies how long the fine weather lasts in northern Norway. For Troms and Finnmark, the fine weather is short-lived.
– Temperatures are expected up to the 20s in Troms and Finnmark from tonight, but it should be enjoyed now, because it will not last long, says the state meteorologist.
Not many summer days left to enjoy in Troms and Finnmark ???? The good weather seems to be short-lived, so enjoy the sun from this afternoon until Wednesday night! Low fog clouds and cooler air will characterize the weather further ahead????
PS: Nordland are lucky and get to keep the fine weather ☀️ pic.twitter.com/GmCMfrMbdZ

In Bodø it is expected 25-26 degrees in the next few days, and in Mosjøen it can be up to 28 degrees.
But it will not last.
– At the end of the week, it will not be super hot anywhere in Norway. It will be a Norwegian summer for everyone, and no southern heat in the country after Thursday, says Sarchosidis.
