HENNINGSVÆR / OSLO (Dagbladet): The weather is always a talking point in this country. Maybe because we are used to a changing climate. In the summer we dream of cloudless days and high temperatures.
At the beginning of the week, it is clear that it is the northernmost counties that run away with the victory for best weather.
– It has been very hot in the north. It is not so unusual now in the summer, preferably in the interior, says state meteorologist Julie Solsvik Vågane, who is currently in Tromsø.
At Rørvikstranda by Henningsvær it was full of people on Tuesday afternoon. The parking lot was filled to the brim.
Oda (6), Amanda (6) and Jacob (7) were among those who cooled down in the water. According to the bathers, it was cool, but nice bathing temperature.
Record and tropical nights
It is not just in Henningsvær that the bathing water attracts. On Monday, 34.3 degrees was measured at Banak in Porsanger municipality.
This is a new county record for Troms and Finnmark, according to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.
In some places, tropical nights have been experienced recently. To be tropical night, there must be temperatures of at least 20 degrees through the night.
– It has been a tropical night in several places. The places are located in Møre og Romsdal, Trøndelag and Troms and Finnmark, says Vågane.
On twitter, the meteorologists point out six of their stations, where it was tropical night until Tuesday:
Kirkenes, Troms and Finnmark
Rissa, Trøndelag
Buholmråsa lighthouse, Trøndelag
Frosta, Trøndelag
Åndalsnes, Møre and Romsdal
Sunndalsøra, Møre and Romsdal

Heat wave
Several places in the world and Europe have had extreme heat waves so far this summer. It has also been hot in Norway.
The Norwegian Meteorological Institute’s definition of heat wave in Norway is when the average temperature over three consecutive days is 28 degrees or more. The definition does not say anything more about how large the area must be. It is therefore sufficient that one measuring station satisfies the criterion.
Among the places that have had a heat wave in recent days are Rana and Saltdal in Nordland, several places in Trøndelag and Sunnfjord in Vestland.
A heat wave has been registered at a total of 59 measuring stations so far in 2021. The Meteorological Institute announced on Twitter on Tuesday.
Heat waves are becoming more and more common. The temperature in Norway has increased by 1 degree on average since 1900. The temperature is estimated to increase further, according to a study done by climate researcher Helga Therese Tilley Tajet.
In Troms and Finnmark, a danger warning has been issued for heather and forest fire danger until Thursday morning.
Right now there is a divide between northern and southern Norway. From Nordland and up it is cloudless.
– In southern and central Norway, on the other hand, there are cloud cover with rain showers. During the day you can expect rain with the possibility of thunder in both the east, west and south of the country, says meteorologist Vågane and adds:
– The weather in southern Norway will eventually move north, so here too there will possibly be rain and thunder throughout the afternoon.
To the great despair of many, it is rain and showers that apply for large parts of the week. This applies to the whole country.
– This generally applies to the entire felt. Everyone will probably get rain during the week, says Vågane.
Vågane says that we can expect building weather and changing weather all week. Right now it indicates that Thursday points out as the day with the least precipitation in southern Norway.

– So far, no danger warning has been issued for torrential rain, but it is something we follow up continuously, the state meteorologist explains.
On Tuesday, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute issued a warning for lightning in Møre og Romsdal and Trøndelag. The danger warning applies to Wednesday afternoon and evening.
Meteorologists recommend that you stay up to date on danger forecasts throughout the summer.
