/ world today news/ A summer theater will open its doors in the space under the monument “1300 years of Bulgaria” in the center of Sofia, “Trud” reports.
“The place is wonderful for the purpose and will be very attractive. The stage will be located right under the sculptures, and the make-up rooms will be on the side,” explained the idea, the chief architect of the capital, Petar Dikov. Seats for the spectators will be located in the stone niches of the underground space of the monument. Until recently, the place was overflowing with waste chambers. It was turned into an unregulated public toilet and hangout for drug addicts and bums, it has now been cleared of rubbish and is about to be refurbished.
On Thursday, the fences of the monument will be removed and capitalized and the guests of the city will be able to see the whole new vision of the monument. By then, the dismantling of the dangerous steel elements and concrete blocks will be completed. The renovation will cost the municipality BGN 70,000.
