“Summer Solstice Festival: Musicians Take to the Streets in Soltau”

June 21 is traditionally a day of music throughout Europe. In many cities, musicians present themselves on the streets on this first day of summer. This festival also has a long tradition in Soltau. The cultural initiative Soltau as the organizer is strongly supported by the schools and the Heidekreis music school, but church musicians, rock bands, folk groups, jazz musicians and classical musicians are also called upon to enliven the city center with their music on this day.

In recent years, up to 200 musicians, some from all over northern Germany, have taken part in the Bohemian city. “And every year more visitors come to take part in this festival,” says Gerd Röders from the culture initiative. The cultural initiative organizes the venues and times of the performances so that the musicians don’t disturb each other.

Traditionally, the festival begins early in the morning with the sound of trumpets on Marktstrasse. From 2 p.m. various music groups will perform in the pedestrian zone and in Hagen and the castle. At 7 p.m. there will be singing together in Hagen, which is very much appreciated by many visitors, and then a concert in Hagen 5.

Musicians who also want to participate can send an email to [email protected].
