This weekend the first edition of the Municipal Summer League, organized by the Municipal Institute of Sports for children, adolescents and youth, was concluded.
USHUAIA.- This multisport league had the participation of about a thousand registered, who played sports matches since January 30. Football had its closure on Saturday for the Under 11 category, which made the Comercio club of the Gold Cup, the HAF club of the Silver Cup and the Luz y Fuerza club of the Bronze Cup champion.
Later, the same Saturday, the finals of the Sub 9 category were played, which threw the Luz y Fuerza club as champion of the Gold Cup, the Silver Cup champion at the Amistad club, and the Taxi club of the Bronze Cup. .
As for the Sub 13, the winners were HAF, Comercio and Ateneo of the Gold, Silver and Bronze cups respectively. We remember that the matches of the Sub 7 category were played in a participatory way, without scoring.
Basketball was another of the disciplines that made up this League. In the finals that were played at the “Hernán Schultz” beach, the U15 champions were the members of the Club de Amigos, the girls from CdA came in second place and Colegio del Sur completed the podium; the fourth step was for School 3. The final of the U13 was disputed by Club de Amigos and Colegio del Sur, consecrating the first champion.

One of the surprises that the League had was the BMX tournament, the first in the city that summoned boys, girls from 6 to 12 years old who put excitement and adventure to each of the dates with Ciro Easdale, Catalina Olazabal and Jeremías Sánchez as the champions.
Already on Sunday it was the turn of the youngest, the 4 and 5 year old boys and girls who, after three dates, closed their participation in the Trail Running tournament, in which adolescents up to 16 years old also participated in the circuit previously established in the vicinity of the “Héroes de Malvinas” Sports Center.
The president of the IMD, Camilo Gómez, highlighted this League, not only because of the enormous work done by the teachers, but also because of the great participation of the people: “We thought about it at a time when uncertainty still reigned, but also a great need to return to the fields, to life in society, to share with the family ”.
“We knew it was going to be a great effort, and that is why I highlight and appreciate the enormous work of the entire body of teachers at the Institute. They put this proposal on their shoulders and carried it out following all the protocols in force. We have many ideas, which we will continue to implement throughout the year. That is why I invite you to be attentive to our networks, in which we will be communicating each of the new proposals ”, he completed.
