After its first edition during the pandemic in 2020, Summer Game Fest returns this summer of 2021 with an event called Kick Off Live! that brings multiple announcements and previews. Weezer will be present as a guest band alongside their host Geoff Keighley (a key figure in the video game industry and who you probably rank for each year’s Game Awards).
According to a statement from the Summer Game Fest, Weezer will present a new stream safe song that can be streamed via Twitch and other channels without being blocked (probably to avoid the same thing happening with Metallica at BlizzCon, when Twitch cut the concert’s audio for put royalty-free elevator music instead), says Unocero.
Some of the confirmed partners at the Summer Game Fest include SEGA, 2K, Activision, Annapurna, Blizzard, Capcom, Epic Games, Finji, PlayStation, Riot Games, Square Enix, Ubisoft, and Xbox. At least a dozen global exclusives are expected in this edition and, after Kick Off Live !, other independent games will be shown in collaboration with iam8bit.
On Thursday, June 10, @weezer joins #summergamefest Kickoff Live! to perform and premiere a brand new video game soundtrack song.

This will be the second edition of Summer Game Fest: an event that was created in the face of countless events canceled during the pandemic, as a kind of replacement for E3. Last year, the first edition brought us our first glimpses of Unreal Engine 5, PlayStation 5 gameplay, and Xbox Series X|S and also previews of (then-long-awaited) Cyberpunk 2077. What awaits us in 2021?
The Kick Off Live! begins June 10 at 2 pm ET (1 pm in Mexico City).
