Europe’s largest airline Lufthansa announces a new round of cancellations as the high season begins. In June, Lufthansa canceled 3100 flights.
Lufthansa is now preparing to cancel one of five flights from the hubs in Frankfurt and Munich, a spokesman said according to Bloomberg. The reason is mainly crew shortages and summer chaos at Europe’s airports.
The changes will affect the so-called fourth peak, the last round from the airports.
According to Bloomberg, the airline now offers only the most expensive ticket classes in July. This means that the cheapest ticket between London and Frankfurt costs from 1000 euros, around 10,200 kroner.
On Wednesday, it was announced that the airline British Airways must make even more cancellations to make the plan go up. The company announced 10,300 new cancellations, and the total number will thus reach 30,000 in the period April to November this year.
The cancellations affect flights to and from London Heathrow, Gatwick and City airports.

– The entire aviation industry still faces major challenges and we are now doing everything we can to restore the stability that customers deserve, BA reports.
The decision comes just ahead of a deadline set by the British aviation authorities where the airlines can give up slots that they do not want to use during the summer season.
Here at home, the situation is no less chaotic with SAS under bankruptcy protection while the company is on a pilot strike.(Terms)Copyright Dagens Næringsliv AS and / or our suppliers.
