Although it is theoretically a month before the arrival of summer with the Solstice of June 21, this weekend outlines the highest temperatures so far this year, at least for two days, which would approach the historical records for these dates.

During the weekend average temperatures of 80F (27C) today Saturday, but there is a risk (40%) of scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Tomorrow Sunday they forecast an even brighter and hotter day with clear skies, no rainfall and with temperatures possibly reaching 90F (32F).

Then a sudden slump: on Monday spring would return with 67F (19C), and on Tuesday (72F / 22C) and even more on Wednesday (89F / 31C) the temperature would rise again and maybe it will rain (40%). The rest of the month is outlined more temperate, with an average possibility of rainfall (30%), coinciding with the holiday of Memorial Day, when the beaches and pools will open in NYC.

Weather updates can be found here and in the portal of National Weather Service (NWS) NY.

Tips to prevent and treat hyperthermia:

  • Tome enough liquid during the day, both water, such as vegetable and fruit juices. Avoid coffee and alcohol.
  • If your home does not have air conditioning or fans, keep the curtains and windows closed during the day and open at night.
  • Avoid the sun: long exposure it always has negative consequences.
  • Try to wear cotton clothing or natural fabrics, fresh and light, and avoid synthetic fibers and dark colors.
  • Do not exercise outside and avoid crowded places during peak heat hours. It is considered that around 3:00 pm is the hottest time on an average day.
