Next week, the Styrian Spring in Vienna will again be the big exhibition of Styrian tourism – on Friday in Graz they already gave insights into the plans for the upcoming summer season. You want to break new ground.
From Formula 1 in Spielberg and the new Styrian Iron Trail around the Erzberg, to new bike routes and the harbingers of the Capital of Culture year 2024 in the Salzkammergut: In the summer of 2023 there will be a lot going on in the eleven tourism regions of Styria. The new green heart logo should reach every household in the summer, and a new heart shop should also be launched this year.
“We’re looking forward to many different highlights – starting with the Diagonale, which is taking place right now, to the Styrian Show in Eastern Styria. From what the companies do with us, from what is on offer, everything is done – at the moment everything looks very, very good. The winter numbers are coming soon. We will obviously be able to balance very well here too,” said Styria Tourism boss Michael Urlaub.
Styrian population stands behind tourism
A new survey also shows that Styrians support tourism. For the first time, Styria is also being advertised as a place to live and work in order to retain skilled workers in the long term: In Hieflau, for example, a pilot project for “Workation” is being set up – a combination of work and vacation.
Tourism should become more sustainable
According to Tourism Provincial Councilor Barbara Eibinger-Miedl (ÖVP), Styria is the first federal state to have a sustainability strategy: “Examples of where sustainability can be implemented in tourism include public transport, which we will rely on, but also regional cuisine, and and last but not least, the issue of guiding visitors and bringing them into harmony with nature,” says Eibinger-Miedl. In addition, tourism also needs the acceptance of the locals.
