After the liberating derby triumph against Borussia Mönchengladbach (2: 1) and thus three wins from the last four games, the squad planning for the next first division season continues in Cologne.
According to information from Express FC managing director Horst Heldt (51) has already had an eye on central defender Timo Hübers.
The former German U-national could be a real stroke of luck for the financially stricken Rhinelander. The 24-year-old’s contract expires in the summer, so the Cologne team could bring him to the Geißbockheim free of charge.
An offer is likely to meet with mutual interest, because Hübers definitely wants in the coming season Bundesliga play. So far, it is questionable whether this goal will be achieved with Hanover – the Lower Saxony are currently in sixth place in the table.

96-President Martin Kind (76) wants to tie the 1.90-meter-tall man for the long term, but is also aware of the upper house competition for Hübers: “If a first division team gets serious, the game is over for us.”
And it is not only in Cologne that an obligation is evidently being discussed. According to “Express” Werder Bremen and the promotion candidate Hamburger SV as well as the Dutch top club PSV Eindhoven have already expressed their interest.
However, the FC could benefit from the fact that managing directors Horst Heldt and Hübers already know each other – the two have between 2017 and 2019 together worked in Hanover. In addition, the defensive edge was used in 21 games for the second team of FC in the Regionalliga West in 2015/16.
