(ANSA) – ROME, AUGUST 24 – Summer 2024 will rank among the top hottest summers since 1800, when meteorological data has been available in Italy. After a June that was the ninth hottest and a July that ranked third for the highest average temperatures, August seems to confirm this trend. “The rainfall expected from Monday certainly won’t be enough,” explains Claudio Tei, meteorologist for the Lamma Consortium between the Tuscany Region and the CNR, “to be able to talk about a cooler summer. After the 4 days of bad weather forecast, temperatures will rise again above average, even if with much more acceptable values than these days.” The placement in the historical series of summer 2024 – the meteorological one goes from the beginning of June to the end of August, the astronomical one known to most begins in the third decade of June and ends at the beginning of the third decade of September – will be defined in the first days of September, when the data from the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate (ISAC) of the CNR will be published, “which will also contain the variation of the values compared to the reference average for the period 1991-2020”. For the next few days the meteorological scenario is destined to change from Monday, starting from the North, with the first thunderstorms. From Thursday the weather will return to being beautiful, but still warmer than average, throughout Italy. (ANSA).
