Sunday when the boards thundered in Boston’s Fenway Park, where the Red Sox aplastaron a los Baltimore Orioles with marker 12-2 thanks to five home runs divided between Bobby Dalbec, Dominicans Franchy Cordero and Rafael Devers, Christian Arroyo and Puerto Rican Kike Hernández, who gave the Massachusetts ninth their ninth victory in the last 12 games.
Los Boston’s five home runs came in four innings against starter Bruce Zimmermann (2-3), the loser who had allowed a career-high four home runs in his last start Tuesday against the Yankees.
Curacao’s Xander Bogaerts had three hits, including a two-run double for Boston. Cordero added a two-run double.
The win went to starter Jake Pivetta. (4-4), who scattered one run on five hits in six innings, improving to 4-0 with a 1.59 ERA in his last five starts.
Slugger Trey Mancini had three hits for the Orioles, who have lost four of the last six games.
Dalbec started the barrage of home runs in the second inning and one batter later it was Cordero who bounced the ball to put the Red Sox ahead 3-0. Devers’ bombshell came in the third before Arroyo and Hernandez’s in the next inning.
