Quebecer Hendrix Lapierre had two assists in a 5-4 loss to the Washington Capitals to the New Jersey Devils.
This is the second straight two-assist game for the Caps first-pick in 2020. Lapierre is the only Capitals player to have collected more than one point during the game.
Zachary Fucale allowed the Devils three goals on 15 shots. He was in the action for almost two periods.
Anthony Mantha amassed an assist for the Capitals.
In goal for the Devils, Jonathan Bernier gave up four goals on 17 shots.
Giordano scores in front of his former supporters
Mark Giordano scored and was applauded by his former supporters in a 4-3 shootout victory for the Seattle Kraken over the Flames in Calgary.
The former Flames captain and new leader of the Seattle expansion team opened the scoring after three minutes of play at the Saddledome.
Jordan Eberle scored the difference in shootout as well as two assists in regulation. Jaden Schwartz scored twice and added an assist.
Matthew Tkachuk scored in the first and in the shootout for the Flames. Calgary’s other scorers were Michael Stone and Mikael Backlund.
Bobby Ryan, decisive for the Red Wings
Bobby Ryan, on trial with the Detroit Red Wings after scoring seven goals for the team last year, tied late in the third period and scored the goal that made the difference in the shootout in a 4-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.
Ryan forced overtime by beating Kevin Lankinen with 1:51 left in the third. He then ended the game with the fifth goal of the shootout. He also got an assist.
Adam Erne had two assists for the Red Wings while Michael Rasmussen and Mitchell Stephens each scored one.
Dominik Kubalik, Brandon Hagel and Jujhar Khaira were the Blackhawks’ scorers.
Lindgren gives 2 goals in front of the Blues’ net
Goaltender Charlie Lindgren gave up two goals in almost 30 minutes in front of the St. Louis Blues net, who lost 5-2 to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
For his part, Jean-François Bérubé allowed a goal in nearly 20 minutes for the Blue Jackets.
Boone Jenner had two goals and an assist for Columbus.
Montrealer Mathias Laferriere was in uniform for the Blues. He played 13:15.
Radu and Benn score, but Noel guides the Panthers’ comeback
Serron Noel tied the game with 44 seconds remaining in the third period before scoring the only goal of the shootout in a 4-3 win for the Florida Panthers over the Dallas Stars.
Christopher Gibson made 35 saves, Mason Marchment had a goal and an assist and Eetu Luostarinen had two assists for the Panthers.
Alexander Radulov, Jason Robertson and Jamie Benn scored unanswered goals in the second to give the Stars a momentary lead.
Harkins and Svechnikov shine, Hellebuyck efficient
Jansen Harkins and Evgeny Svechnikov each amassed three points in the Winnipeg Jets’ 5-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers.
Harkins had two goals and one assist while Svechnikov provided one goal and two assists. Winnipeg’s other scorers were Kyle Connor and Austin Poganski.
Connor Hellebuyck repelled 17 of 18 shots aimed at him.
Brad Malone scored the Oilers’ only goal.
