MILWAUKEE – Donovan Mitchell scored 30 points, including a game-winning shot with three-tenths left, and the Cleveland Cavaliers remained undefeated by beating the Milwaukee Bucks to the wire, 114-113, on Saturday.
With their 7-0 record, the Cavs are one win away from matching the best start to the season in their history. In 1976-77, they won their first eight games.
Conversely, Milwaukee (1-5) has lost five consecutive games since signing an opening success, despite a sparkling performance from Damian Lillard, who totaled 41 points, including ten successful three-point shots in 15 attempts.
His ten long-distance throws were his highest total since joining Milwaukee last season. His best points tally was 42.
Lillard put the Bucks in front with 9.8 seconds left, before Mitchell’s heroic move.
As for Giannis Antetokounmpo, he had 34 points, 16 rebounds and nine assists, approaching the hat-trick in the losing cause.
The Bucks were playing without Khris Middleton, who has yet to play this season, recovering from ankle surgeries.
The Wisconsin team will have the opportunity to recover on Monday, when the Bucks and the Cavs cross swords again, this time in Cleveland.
