Summary of Atlanta-Charlotte and Red Bulls-Minnesota matches in MLS

Jake Mulraney scored in stoppage time to give Atlanta United a 2-1 win over Charlotte FC in the teams’ first-ever match at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday.

Charlotte has still not amassed a point since her debut.

It took until the 60th minute to see a first goal be scored, this one by Josef Martinez on penalty, after a foul by Christian Makoun on Brooks Lennon.

Martinez beat goaltender Kristijan Khalina, who dived to his left.

Adam Armor tied the game just 6 minutes later with a header. It was Charlotte’s first goal in MLS.

Atlanta will face CF Montreal next Saturday.

Minnesota saved by its goalkeeper

Dayne St. Clair was able to hold the shutout to lead Minnesota United to a 1-0 win over the New York Red Bulls.

Gerhard Struber’s squad got a golden chance to open the scoring in the 14the minute when Minnesota midfielder Hassani Dotson was found guilty of a handball in the box. St. Clair, however, stood up to block Patryk Klimala’s shot.

Luis Amarilla thanked his goalkeeper at the 51e minute with a nice shot on the fly to open the scoring. Despite pressure from the Red Bulls, they were never able to outsmart the Minnesota United keeper.
