KOMPAS.com – Russia says the first phase of its military operation has been largely completed and will focus on “liberating” the breakaway Donbas region in eastern Ukraine.
Reframing his goals might make it easier for Russian President Vladimir Putin to claim a face-saving victory, analysts say.
It was one of many developments that took place on the 31st day of Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

The United States and other countries are also speeding up the transfer of their weapons and supplies to Ukraine.
The latest and no less dire news is that three hundred people may have died in the Mariupol theatre bombing, local officials said.
On the other hand, Russia says 1,351 of its soldiers have died since the war began on February 24, while the United Nations says it has confirmed 1,081 civilian deaths in Ukraine.
So far, 34 attacks on Ukrainian medical facilities have been carried out by Russian forces.

Thousands of kilometers from Ukraine, Russia is also conducting military exercises on islands claimed by Tokyo, Japanese media report.
This comes days after Moscow suspended peace talks with Japan over its sanctions over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
