Earthquake with a magnitude (M) of 4.8 shook Sumedang, West Java. A total of 331 Sumedang Regional Hospital patients were evacuated.
Acting Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari said the 331 patients who were evacuated consisted of 248 inpatients. Meanwhile, 83 IDG patients were evacuated to the building yard and five tents placed on the main road.
“A total of 331 Sumedang Regional Hospital patients consisting of 248 inpatients and 83 IDG patients were evacuated to the building yard and five tents placed on the main road after the M 4.8 earthquake occurred on Sunday (31/12/2023) at 20.34 WIB ,” said Muhari in his statement quoted Monday (1/1/2024).
Muhari said that three hospital buildings were cracked, including the Pavilion, VIP and Sakura buildings. The team, he said, continues to comb other points for further checks.
Meanwhile, conditions at Pakuon Hospital are safe and all patients remain evacuated from the building. BNPB also noted that 53 houses were damaged and 200 residents were evacuated to a nearby field in the Babakan Hutip area.
“The joint team is currently setting up field tents to accommodate affected residents,” he said.
Earthquake Rocks Sumedang
An earthquake with a magnitude (M) 4.8 occurred in Sumedang, West Java, on Sunday (31/12/2023) at around 20.34 WIB. Residents panicked and ran out of their houses.
As reported by detikJabar, the third earthquake shock felt stronger than the previous earthquake, causing several residents to run out of their houses. Agus (55) is one of them. He admitted that he was shocked by the shock of the third earthquake he felt.
“The earthquake was more pronounced and even the lights and curtains were seen shaking,” he said.
