Sumar Proposes Measures to Address Housing Crisis and Support Social Majority

Valero warns that “the right-wing and ultra-right housing policies only support the law of the jungle”

MÁLAGA, 13 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Sumar’s number 1 candidate for the Congress of Deputies for Malaga, Toni Valero, has presented a “battery” of measures with which the formation that has Yolanda Díaz as a candidate for the Presidency, proposes “addressing the housing problem, both to cushion the rise in mortgages, to limit the price of rentals and to build a public park of two million subsidized homes throughout the legislature”.

“Sumar wants to make useful politics, focused on people’s daily problems, one of the main ones is housing, in Malaga and its province, housing is an ordeal for thousands of young people who want to emancipate themselves and cannot”, Valero pointed out, while adding that “to pay the rent or the mortgage, many families are disbursing more than 30% of their income, they have to choose whether to fill the fridge or pay for the house.”

For this reason, Valero has said, “Sumar has a battery of proposals to face the housing problem and benefit the social majority.”

In this regard, Valero explained that “there is a problem with mortgages due to the wrong rise in Euribor, the policies against families of the European Central Bank have to be mitigated with an aid bonus of 1,000 euros for all families to whom The mortgage has gone up and they can’t make ends meet”.

“And, furthermore, our objective is to regulate the prices of variable mortgages so that they have a maximum ceiling, as has been done with energy,” he added.

In the same way, as a second measure, Valero has pointed out Sumar’s determination to “favor access to housing by regulating rental prices, a measure that the PP rejects, for which reason regulatory changes are necessary that force the PP to that in the cities where he governs, the rental price should be capped so that it does not account for more than 30% of the families’ income”.

It has also had an impact on the need to “develop a public housing stock, following the European model, as they have deployed in Austria or the Netherlands.” Thus, they propose “a strong investment so that by the end of the legislature we will have two million public homes so that young people who want to emancipate themselves can access them.”

“The right-wing and ultra-right housing policies only support the law of the jungle and the interests of investment funds and large holders who want to cover themselves and do business with a constitutional right. An example is the president of the Board, Juanma Moreno, who does not even have the decency to assert the youth bond paid for by the Government of Spain and which has not been launched seven months after it was approved,” Valero criticized.

For her part, Sumar’s number 2 candidate for Málaga, Mar González, added that “housing is a basic right of citizenship, which is why we want to allocate 1% of GDP for the construction of a public housing stock”.

“We also want to regulate the rental price, expanding the Housing Law to prevent housing from accounting for more than 30% of family income. Malaga is suffering a price rise that is out of all logic,” he concluded.
