Sum 41: singer Deryck Whibley accuses the group’s ex-manager of sexual abuse

Sum 41 will definitively disband at the end of January 2025, at the end of the Canadian rock group’s final tour and thirty-year career. In this book entitled Walking Disaster : My Life Through Heaven and Hellthe singer and guitarist says that in 1996, Sum 41 got a manager, Greig Nori, who immediately had control over all the members until the end of their collaboration in 2005. Deryck Whibley was 16 years old, and claims having been a victim of sexual, psychological and verbal violence by Greig Nori who was more than twice his age, namely 34 years old. The latter allegedly encouraged him to consume a mixture of alcohol and ecstasy during a rave party, before abusing him by kissing him.passionately” then by raping him, as reported in Los Angeles Times.

This was the starting point, according to the singer, of a forced and secret sexual relationship which lasted four years. “Greig continued to push for these things to happen when we were together. I started to feel like I was being pushed to do something against my will“, says the artist, who then confided in the 2000s to Avril Lavigne, his wife at the time. “This is abuse! He sexually abused you.”she would have reacted, shocked by his testimony. “I always thought I would take this to my grave and not say anything.
