Sulfur Smell Incident at Rennes 1 Laboratory Prompts Evacuation

This July 18, at the beginning of the afternoon, firefighters intervened for a smell of sulfur, in a laboratory of Rennes 1, on the first floor of building 14 A. They were about twenty and immediately evacuated about forty people ( administrative staff, students), one of whom was slightly inconvenienced. “Measurements were carried out by a specialized team”, we explain at the operational rescue center. “They were negative. Everyone returned to their offices after the operation. This building is one of the first on campus, opened in 1969 and designed by architect Louis Arretche. In 2000, it benefited from an extension to the west, designed by the Atelier Robain — Guieysse.
