The Story of Suffs

• The musical Suffs takes you to the middle of 1913, when the news is marked by the success of the “Suffragettes”, women determined to get the right to vote. The movement, launched in 1903 in the United Kingdom by the Women’s Social and Political Unionacross the Atlantic and set the United States on fire. In the USA, women finally got the right to vote in 1919, long before France where they were granted this basic right in… 1944.
• Suffs makes you relive this fight, which brings together women of all generations and all walks of life in the US. Suffs also reflects the ongoing struggle for gender equality, whether at work or in the distribution of family activities. A truly political musical!
• This musical is entirely created and directed by women, from the casting director to the actresses on stage. The music is the work of the American singer Shaina Taubwhich has been given several times. Suffs won 2 Tony Awards in 2024, for Best Original Score and for Best Libretto of a Musical. The musical also won the Drama Desk Award for Best Musical in 2022.
