Suffolk County Announces Largest Law Enforcement Personnel Hiring in Its History – Telemundo New York (47)

NEW YORK – Suffolk County will have the largest recruitment of police officers and law enforcement personnel in its history, and some of them will be people from the Hispanic community, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone announced Monday.

Over a 12-month period, Suffolk County will hire 705 law enforcement personnel and 462 of them will join the Suffolk County Police Department, Bellone added. The hiring will be carried out with the use of funds from the federal government.

“Today I am announcing the largest recruitment of police and law enforcement officers in the history of Suffolk County in a 12-month period,” confirmed Bellone from the County Police Academy at Suffolk Community College where he made the announcement.

On the other hand, Bellone highlighted that diversity is one of the priorities for the Suffolk County Police Department. “The most effective way to continue to build on the success of this department and achieve greater success is to make sure the department is as diverse as possible, reflecting the communities it serves.”

Therefore, ten percent of the new hires will be Spanish-speaking.

The official encourages people interested in being part of the County Police to register to take the exam. Here information about positions in the Police department of Suffolk County.
