Egypt is experiencing a meaningful temperature drop, with ⁤much of the country facing frigid conditions on Friday, December‌ 27, 2024. the General Authority of Meteorology forecasts cold weather‍ across most regions, although South Sinai and south Upper Egypt may see slightly milder temperatures.

Overnight lows are expected ‍to⁢ be notably harsh, with the potential for frost impacting crops in northern upper Egypt, central⁣ Sinai, ⁣and⁣ parts of‍ the‌ Western ⁢Desert. The Authority ⁣warns⁣ of “very cold”​ conditions during⁤ these hours. ⁣

Maritime navigation is also expected to be disrupted along ⁣the coast from Port Said ‍to⁤ Rafah⁣ to Al-Arish. The forecast includes strong winds,⁣ reaching⁤ speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, and significant wave heights of 2 to 3 meters. ‍

In addition to the ⁤cold, ⁢the country anticipates a⁤ drop in temperatures across the board, with values ranging from 3 to 4 degrees Celsius. Windy⁤ conditions may also lead to sand and dust storms in exposed areas. Light to moderate thunderstorms are also predicted for the northwestern‌ coasts and northern Lower Egypt.

The Meteorological Authority provided specific temperature forecasts for major cities: Greater Cairo (high of 17°C, low of 10°C); Greater Alexandria (high of 18°C, low of​ 10°C); Greater Matrouh (high ⁤of 17°C, ‌low of 8°C); ‌Greater⁣ Sohag (high of 19°C, ​low of 5°C); Greater ​Qena (high of 20°C, low of⁢ 7°C); and Aswan (high of 21°C, low of 8°C).
