The first stop is Moldova, where the group will perform in the final of the Eurovision national selection.
The guys went there already on Friday and managed to meet with the Latvian ambassador in Moldova. The reception was said to be very warm and sincere, but there was also a conversation about the political situation.
“Moldova is our first stop. Although we have heard all kinds of talk about the unstable situation, we have contacted the embassy and they have said that everything is calm at the moment. There is some anxiety, but we are happy to share our song for the first time outside of Latvia ,” says “Sudden Lights” musician Andrejs Reinis Zitmanis.
Looking at the situation in Moldova, the guys believe that the message of their song “Aija” is very suitable for it.
“We hope for the victory of democracy. Therefore, it is important for us to go there as representatives of the European Union. Our song is also in some sense a message of European unity.”
Moldova is just the beginning of the tour, and it won’t be the band’s only stop.
“We will go to different countries. It promises to be a very interesting event, because we know that the Eurovision community is very keen. We will visit Poland, Spain and then Spain again. Three countries so far, but there will definitely be more.”
In the Eurovision song contest, which will be held in Liverpool this year, Latvia will perform in the first semi-final on May 9.
In 2022, Ukrainian representatives “Kalush Orchestra” won Eurovision with the song “Stefania”, but due to security reasons, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) decided to entrust the organization of the 2023 contest on behalf of Ukraine to Great Britain.
