Sudden Lights’ Acoustic Performance of “Our Love” on Star FM Creates Buzz

When “Sudden Lights” visited the radio “Star FM” studio, the song “Our love” was addressed to the listeners, which the band intended to present to the listeners at the Second Latvian Music Big Concert on September 2. Responding to the great interest of the listeners, “Sudden Lights” agreed to record the song in the studio as well.

The group “Sudden Lights” created their own version of the “Chikāgas piecīšu” song “Our love” especially for the second big concert of Latvian music. According to the musicians, the idea of the concert was to play well-known Latvian songs in a new version, therefore “Sudden Lights” had also included this song in their repertoire. The band presented it acoustically on Star FM. But the unexpected happened – listeners immediately started asking where they can listen to the song.

“When they started singing, I knew the song had been given a new lease of life! It sounds completely different and very modern,” Baiba Sipeniece-Gavare, host of Star FM’s “Zoopasta” program, described the group’s performance. When the group had sung the last notes of the song, the presenter Jānis Romanovskis took a look at the radio “WhatsApp” chat, where every listener can share news, impressions or comments. “The chat literally blew up!” Baiba remembers. Although the song was not originally intended to be recorded, but only played once, Sudden Lights agreed to record it in the studio as well.

It should be reminded that the original song was written in 1983. The song “Our love” by the exiled Latvian group “Chikāgas piecīši” was included in the album “Par mani, prāvšiņ, nebėda!”, and the poignantly optimistic song quickly won the hearts of the listeners.
