An agreement has been reached on a new collective labor agreement for hospital staff, the trade unions FNV and CNV report. As of this month, according to FNV Zorg, the wages of the 200,000 hospital employees will rise by at least 2 percent, with a floor of 90 euros. The unions will still present the agreement to their members.
NU’91, the union for nurses and carers, does not agree. As far as NU’91 is concerned, the consultation has come to a standstill on the structural salary increase. Chair Stella Salden: “During the pandemic, the utmost has been, and still is, demanded of the nurses and carers. Yet they are now back at the back. It is time for an appropriate appreciation.”
The care employers and trade unions had been negotiating a new collective labor agreement for months. Just before Christmas, the seventh round of negotiations collapsed. According to the unions, tempers had subsequently run high. “The willingness to take action grew after the consultations collapsed,” writes FNV.
At the end of September, work was stopped in seven large hospitals for better working conditions. Plans for new actions have now been shelved, according to the unions.
