Sudanese police shoot tear gas at demonstrations condemning the military coup – Al-Binaa newspaper

Yesterday thousands of Sudanese protesters continued their protests in the capital, Khartoum, and its suburbs, coinciding with the first anniversary of the army’s assumption of power, according to Agence France-Presse.
According to the agency, Sudanese police forces responded by firing tear gas at demonstrators in Khartoum Bahri, the north-eastern suburb of the capital, where thousands of demonstrators have erected barricades since morning, shouting “the military in barracks”.
Protesters also blocked the roads around them through these barricades made of stones, tree branches and burning tires, while the Sudanese authorities closed the two bridges that connect the Bahri area to the center of Khartoum.
In the Al-Dim area in the center of the capital, protesters gathered as they raised images of the dead during the protests and performed revolutionary songs.
It is interesting to note that in recent days thousands of Sudanese have come out to commemorate the first military coup, carried out by Al-Burhan on 25 October last year.
On the other hand, dozens of Sudanese organized a vigil outside the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Khartoum to condemn the escalation of tribal violence in the southern Blue Nile state, which killed 250 people.
