Sudanese Army mobilizes border guards amidst ongoing clashes with Rapid Support Forces

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Sudanese army issued a decision to mobilize border guards and security arrangements to join ground units across the country in light of the ongoing clashes with the Rapid Support Forces.

The office of the official spokesman for the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and the commander of the Sudanese Armed Forces announced: “The mobilization of officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers of the border guard forces and the security arrangements forces of the ground forces, provided that they report to the various units of the ground forces deployed throughout the country,” according to the official Sudanese News Agency.

The Rapid Support Forces had rejected Al-Burhan’s calls to withdraw from the sites they control throughout Sudan.

The Rapid Support Forces affirmed their adherence to “self-defence” and their preservation of the sites under their control in Khartoum and other Sudanese cities.
