Ethiopia has completed the fourth filling To fill the renaissance Friday evening, according to what was revealed by the latest satellite images.

The images revealed that water began arriving in the middle corridor of the Renaissance Dam yesterday, and it is expected to cross at dawn today, Saturday, to begin flowing towards Egypt and Sudan.

Egyptian expert Dr. Abbas Sharaqi said that the amount of storage in the Renaissance Dam Lake for the months of July, August and 8 days of September amounted to about 24 billion cubic meters at a level of 625 meters above sea level, which is equivalent to about 50% of the average annual flow of the Blue Nile.

He pointed out that this water will cross into the Blue Nile towards Sudan, which witnessed a significant decrease during this season, stressing that this water will be a lifeline for the Sudanese people who have long awaited the Blue Nile flood for 80 days, during which large areas of the country were exposed to drought.

The Egyptian expert continued that what increased the decline in the level of the Nile was Ethiopia’s closure of the western gate on the first of this September, and the fourth filling operations coincided with a decrease in the amount of rain this year in most parts of Sudan, indicating that during the past few days some effects of the fourth filling of the Renaissance Dam appeared, including a decrease The level of the Nile and the emergence of drought in some areas in Sudan.

Egypt had announced its rejection of Ethiopian intransigence regarding the Renaissance Dam file.

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said last Wednesday that Egypt looks forward to the Arab League continuing its support regarding the issue of the Renaissance Dam, expressing his rejection of intransigent positions in light of unilateral steps, and the filling of the dam from the Ethiopian side. Shoukry confirmed during his speech before the opening session of the Arab League Council. Al-Arabiya spoke at the ministerial level on Wednesday on the need to reach a consensus to achieve the interest of all, adding that Egypt did not notice during the round of dam negotiations in Cairo a few days ago any change in Ethiopia’s position and the lack of a tendency in Addis Ababa to adopt the proposed compromise solutions that meet the demands and ambitions of the three countries.

Following the Cairo negotiations for the Renaissance Dam, which began the Sunday before last, the Egyptian Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation confirmed that Egypt will continue its tireless efforts to reach, as soon as possible, a binding legal agreement regarding the rules for filling and operating the Renaissance Dam, in a manner that takes into account Egyptian interests and constants by preserving its water security and preventing… causing harm to him.

She added that Egypt seeks an agreement that benefits the three countries, which requires that all negotiating parties adopt a comprehensive vision that combines protecting national interests and achieving benefit for all.
