The Central Committee of Sudanese Doctors announced, on Tuesday, the death of a demonstrator after being shot in the chest.

The committee stated, in a statement on its Facebook page, that the demonstrator was killed while participating in processions east of the Nile, in the capital, Khartoum, and so far his identity has not been identified.

She added that the death toll rose to 125, following the outbreak of the wave of protests in Sudan in October 2021.

Thousands of protesters dispersed

Today, Tuesday, Sudanese security forces fired tear gas to disperse thousands of protesters in the capital, Khartoum, and prevented them from reaching the presidential palace.

The protesters gathered in Al-Arbaeen Street in Omdurman, Al-Dim district, south of Khartoum, Al-Mashada station in Bahri city, and Hilla Coco in East Nile locality, and headed to the presidential palace, but the security forces quickly confronted them using tear gas, water cannons, and sound bombs.

The protesters raised banners and chanted slogans rejecting the framework agreement signed between civilians and military leaders on the fifth of last December and calling for the restoration of the civil-democratic path, the accountability of those responsible for the killing of demonstrators, and the release of detained politicians and members of the resistance committees.

Violent confrontations took place between the security forces and protesters on the roads leading to the palace, and hit-and-run operations took place between the two parties in the alleys of Khartoum 2, which is about six kilometers away from the palace.

Eyewitnesses told the Arab World News Agency that the security forces fired tear gas to disperse the protesters near the parliament buildings in Omdurman and at the entrance to the Mak Nimr Bridge linking the cities of Khartoum and Khartoum North, which led to injuries among the protesters.

The resistance committees, which have been organizing protests since the measures taken by the Army Commander, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan on October 25, 2021, called today’s procession “the conclusion of the farce.”

“We know that you exist and you are fed up with the behavior of your leaders,” she said in a message addressed to the Sudanese on Monday.

And she added, “And we promise you that the end of this farce is near… Stand with your people.”

Moamen Abdel-Hakam, a member of the resistance committees, said that they will work seriously “to bring down the coup and cut off the farce of the framework agreement.”

This is the sixth demonstration during the month of February within the schedule issued by the resistance committees.
