Just a few days earlier, Husby and Nythun were staying on the French Riviera. There, Hank waded seemingly carefree at the beach edge.
Now the manager talks about the rocker’s last days.
– The week in Cannes did him good, and we made new plans. Hans-Erik enjoyed working with film again and enjoyed being in front of the camera, says Nythun, who does not hide that his friend was in pretty bad physical shape.
Remembered with joy
– He was short of breath and struggled to climb stairs, but that he died a few days later was unexpected, unreal and infinitely sad. The happy and good days we had together in Cannes, I will remember with joy, says Boye Nythun who for many years has been one of the rocker’s best friends.
Hans-Erik did not have such thoughts! I knew him so well. It was no secret that at times he lived a hard life. He has been open about this before. The last few months have been extra hard for him, and unfortunately the sum of a hard, lived life became too much for him. Hans-Erik’s body could no longer stand it. He was found out in Slottsparken. His body had simply said stop, says Nythun.

Heart friend
The two were good friends, and had big plans.
– When the message came that Hans-Erik had been found dead just a few days after we had returned to Norway, I was shocked. Now it has slowly dawned on me that he will never come back – and that all the plans we had made for the future will not come to fruition. It is infinitely sad that I have lost my good and close friend who will always have a place in my heart.
Boye and Hans-Erik were at work in France to record the last scenes of the great Nordic and historical documentary series «Rex Barbaricum»; on European migration.

– Hans-Erik was an emergence of stories and knowledge. That’s why I used him as the Norwegian host in the series, says director Geir Felling Andersen.
Boye Nythun has worked with Hans-Erik Dyvik Husby for six years and been involved in his friend’s ups and downs. Also with his solo career as Hank von Helvete.

What started with one album and several singles on Swedish Sony, sent him on tour to the US and several subsequent concerts in Sweden.
In 2019, Husby was hired by Gothenburg City Theater as the wizard in Mozart’s “The Magic Flute”, with great success and good reviews. With Cornelis Vreeswijk and Johnny Cash on the repertoire, he has performed around the country and the beach.
