Such is the current pandemic burden in the Würzburg region

Although the 7-day incidence in the city and district of Würzburg has leveled off at a manageable level for some time, the corona situation remains tense. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported an incidence of 41.2 on Tuesday for the district of Würzburg, a value of 85.1 for the city. After three fully vaccinated senior citizens died in Zell last week, the health department reported two more deaths in the community on Monday.

“In inpatient treatment in Kitzingen and Würzburg, two other residents of the Zell retirement home died in connection with a corona infection,” said the health department in a press release to the editorial staff. The people between the ages of 89 and 86 were therefore vaccinated and had multiple previous illnesses.

A total of 185 corona cases in the city and district of Würzburg

For some time now, an important indicator for assessing the pandemic burden has been the utilization of intensive care units in hospitals. According to the RKI intensive care bed register, eight out of nine intensive care beds in the Würzburg district are currently occupied, but not with corona patients. In the city of Würzburg, 123 of 133 intensive care beds are occupied, eleven of them with corona patients, seven of whom have to be artificially ventilated.

A total of 185 corona cases were reported to the Würzburg health department in the past week ?? 114 of them in the city of Würzburg and 71 in the district. Most of the corona cases in the district were in the Waldbrunn community (seven, a total of 80). The majority comes from family backgrounds or, according to the health department, is of unclear origin.

Würzburg district is one of the municipalities with the highest incidence

There were six infections each in Giebelstadt (total 187) and Prosselsheim (total 37). Most of the infections come from family surroundings. In Ochsenfurt (total 527) and Randersacker (total 111) there were five infections each. Most of these come from a private environment.

With an incidence of 85.1, Würzburg is above the Bavarian average of 81.2 according to the RKI. The district of Traunstein has the worst value in Bavaria with an incidence of 225.4. In Lower Franconia, the city of Schweinfurt has the worst value with 138.8.

With a value of 41.2, the district of Würzburg is well below the Bavarian average and belongs to the best third of the urban and rural districts in the Free State. The Neustadt an der Waldnaab district currently has the best value with 14.8. The Main-Spessart district has the best incidence in Lower Franconia with 27.0.
