Most vegetables have risen in price in the third week of September (13-17), and the price of gherkins, peppers, cabbage and potatoes has risen the most. This is shown in the latest weekly bulletin of the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets (SCSBT).
Exceptions are tomatoes from the field and greenhouse cucumbers, which have become cheaper.
The main reason for the rise in prices not only of vegetables and fruits, but also of most basic foods, is the bad climate.
After all, in the past third week of September there is a new record ninth consecutive weekly rise in food prices on commodity exchanges and markets, for the first time in five years, according to summary data from the commodity regulator.
In the previous eight weeks, wholesale food prices increased, respectively: by 0.25% (September 6-10), by 0.50% (August 30 – September 3), by 2.22% (August 23-27), by 2.26% August 16-20), which shows a slow pace of appreciation. Over the previous four weeks, prices also increased, but unevenly: by 0.65% (August 9-13), by 1.52% (August 2-6), by 0.73% (July 26-30) and by 2.39% (19-23). July). Thus, the total increase with accumulation for the nine consecutive weeks is by 10.46 percent.
The monthly balance
