In a party atmosphere, the XXV edition of the Lawyer’s Day Athletic Race was successfully carried out, a fair that brought together more than 2,000 participants and that marked the return to the massive face-to-face competitions in the Mexican capital after waiting more than a year due to Covid-19.
Under strict sanitary measures to avoid contagion of the coronavirus and without an award ceremony, the Judicial Power of the State of Mexico resumes the traditional face-to-face sports fair that achieved a good response in the call both in Texcoco and in Toluca.
The competitors gathered next to the Palace of Justice located in the first square of the center of the Mexican capital, Magistrate Ricardo Sodi Cuellar, president of the Judicial Power of the State of Mexico and the Judiciary, gave the starting signal to the group of cyclists at 7:30 a.m. for its 20-kilometer route, from 9:15 a.m. it was the turn of the 10-kilometer runners, with disabilities and finally 5 kilometers.
Prior to the departure of the different groups, it was verified that they maintained a healthy distance, that everyone wore their face masks, in addition to different recommendations to take into account during the tour that contemplated streets and avenues such as Lerdo de Tejada, Rayón, Morelos, Villada, Gómez Farías, Vicente Guerrero, Tollocan and Literary Institute.
The cyclists were the ones who had the least inconvenience to make the route, which was totally recreational, so the key was above all the coexistence in a traditional event that this year for the first time was also held in Texcoco on July 4 where 600 competed people.
While the runners with disabilities, as well as those of 5 and 10 kilometers reflected a competitive level, it seems that the pandemic did not prevent them from training to maintain a good rhythm and fight for the first places, even the mascots had no problems completing the route.
Due to the continuing health emergency, the award ceremony was not held, so the winners of the different categories will be announced on the social networks of the Edomex Judicial Branch and the official website of the event organizer.
The athletic fair is organized jointly by the Judicial Power of the State of Mexico, the City Councils of Texcoco and Toluca, the UAEM Law School, the Attorney General’s Office of the entity, the Public Defender’s Office, the Electoral Court, the Ministry of Justice and Human rights.
