The vaccination “marathon” has been more successful than expected, with moments of more and less influx. “This Saturday there was an increase in people first thing in the morning and around twelve in the morning, but practically at no time has the waiting room been empty, we have been non-stop all morning,” he assured. Alvaro Morán Bayón, medical coordinator of management teams.
In fact, almost 300 people from Salamanca (281) in the capital, plus those who went to rural areas, responded to the call for the ‘marathon’ called by Sacyl to give new impetus to the vaccination campaign.
In total, they used 268 doses of the flu vaccine and others 176 serum against the coronavirus.
Most people, according to professionals, Morán Bayón and the nurse Gabriel Ribeirothey have gone to get vaccinated against the flu, although many also ask for both. An example is Beatríz Fernández Martín, who is a teacher in Madrid. Until now she had not been able to get vaccinated because she is still registered in Salamanca, but as soon as she has seen the possibility of it, she explains that she has done it for prevention, “since she works with children.”
Isabel Casas Ibáñez has also received both vaccines: “I came now because of the peak of flu,” while Juan García, who came to get vaccinated only against Covid, says that he does so to “avoid getting infected.”
Jesús Pérez, Saray Pérez and Lidia María Pérez have gone to get vaccinated after knowing that opened the call to the general population. “We thought it was only for elderly or at-risk people, but when we found out that it wasn’t, we came to get vaccinated,” she commented. Jesús and Saray are going to get both and Lidia points out that she doesn’t know if she will get the Covid vaccine: »I come for the flu, but since I already had Covid recently, I think it’s not necessary for them to get it for me.»
