Successful Vaccination Campaign in Morelia Municipality Against Influenza and Covid 19

Fatima Alfaro/Quadratín

MORELIA, Mich., November 28, 2023.- A total of five thousand people have vaccinated the municipality against influenza and coronavirus (Covid 19) in this cold season, said José Murguía Magaña, director of the Municipal Health Institute.

This is an advance of 16.67 percent compared to the expectation, of 30 thousand doses to be applied, of both biologicals.

Murguía Magaña said that of the five thousand vials administered, three thousand correspond to influenza and two thousand correspond to Covid 19.

He acknowledged that at the start of the campaign, in the first half of November, resistance to the Covid 19 vaccine was observed, as Abdala was the biological vaccine to be applied.

However, the Director of the Municipal Health Institute called on the population to receive the vaccines, due to the forecast of a severe winter season, characterized by very low temperatures and the risk of contagion of respiratory diseases.

He added that the agency captures five patients with respiratory illnesses, for every 10 who come to receive medical attention.

In addition to the vaccines against Covid 19 and influenza, the vial against pneumococcus is available, which extends protection against diseases caused by this pathogen.

So far, the Municipal Health Institute has not registered cases of influenza and has only had two cases of Covid 19.
