The head of the Department of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health of Michoacán (SSM), Fabio Silahua Silva, reported that the goal is to immunize one million 327 thousand Michoacans, from October 16, 2023 to March 31, 2024 in all centers. health, clinics of the Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers (ISSSTE) and in the Family Medicine Units of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS).

In addition, any patient over 5 years of age may also request the COVID-19 vaccine, since both biologicals must be applied every year, prior to the winter season, so that, in the cold period, the population is protected from complications such as pneumonia and avoid hospitalizations.

The symptoms of influenza are fever above 38°C; cough and headache; accompanied by one or more of the following signs such as runoff; nasal congestion and redness; Muscle and joint pain; decay (prostration); chest, swallowing and stomach pain; and diarrhea. While COVID-19 manifests itself with dry cough, fever, headache and chest pain, burning throat, difficulty breathing, muscle pain, runny nose and also diarrhea.

In case of contagion, you should drink plenty of fluids, stay at home, not self-medicate and seek medical attention immediately, so that a doctor can prescribe specific antiviral treatment and in this first stage of vaccination against influenza, priority will be given to all minors. from six to 59 months of age, people with serious comorbidities, immunosuppressed patients, older adults, pregnant women and health personnel.
