Successful test of Nasa’s new rocket technology for travel to space

Nasa writing now that the American space agency has carried out a successful test of its new rocket technology RDRE (rotating detonation rocket engine) intended for missions to deep space.

The RDRE differs from a traditional rocket engine in that it instead creates forward motion by using a supersonic phenomenon known as a detonation.

The technology produces more power while using less fuel than today’s systems. Among other things, it could be used for both manned and unmanned missions to, for example, the moon and Mars.

Due to the success of the test, Nasa is now developing a fully reusable RDRE to compare its performance with a traditional rocket engine.

You can test drive the RDRE in the clip below.
