Vorarlberg’s Marco Rossi celebrated a successful start to the NHL season with the Minnesota Wild.
Austria’s only professional in the strongest ice hockey league in the world is celebrating a 3-2 home win against the Columbus Blue Jackets in St. Paul on Friday night.
The 23-year-old striker was on the ice for just over 14 minutes in the first of 82 games in the NHL regular season, but did not record a point.
The connecting goal comes too late

Matt Boldy (18th), Joel Eriksson Ek (37th) and Mats Zuccarello (50th) score for Minnesota in the power play. Kent Johnson equalized for the Blue Jackets in the second third (23′), Zach Werenski’s follow-up goal (58’/PP) made the encounter even more exciting shortly before the end.
With strong performances in preparation, Rossi had secured a place as center on the first line between star strikers Kirill Kaprisow and Zuccarello.
The Wild, who started the season with play-off ambitions, continue on Sunday night with another home game against the Seattle Kraken (from 2 a.m. in the LIVE ticker>>>).
Utah also won game two
NHL newcomer Utah can also look forward to success. The Salt Lake City franchise celebrates a 5-4 overtime victory over the New York Islanders.
In a game worth watching, things constantly go back and forth. Utah fights back several times, especially the last third is tough. After 48 minutes it was 3:3 before Tsyplakov put the Islanders ahead 4:3 towards the end (58th). But just 13 seconds later, Doan made it 4:4 (59′).
In overplay time, after 2:18 minutes of play, it was youngster Dylan Guenther who gave Utah the victory. Already at their NHL debut there was a 5-2 triumph over the Chicago Blackhawks.
