Successful start! – FC Wacker Innsbruck

At the start of the tt.com Regionalliga Tirol, FC Wacker Innsbruck welcomed SPG Silz/Mötz. Before the game, we weren’t quite sure where we stood, but after the clear 5-0 victory, things at least seem to be heading in the right direction!

FCW impresses at the start

From the beginning, FC Wacker Innsbruck dominated the game and dictated the proceedings. Silz/Mötz coach Kraft gave his team a very defensive approach, which initially prevented the Wackerians from scoring in the early stages. But in the 9th minute, Stefan Lorenz came close with a spectacular scissor-kick. Shortly afterwards, Silz/Mötz goalkeeper Rottensteiner parried a header from Adrian Lechl. Mouhamed Sy, who scored what appeared to be the lead for the traditional Tyrolean club in the 20th minute, caused the 2,348 spectators to cheer. Unfortunately, it was offside. Ten minutes later, a through ball reached Lorenz in the box, who was pulled back by an opponent using his new, smart Adidas jersey. Okan Yilmaz converted the resulting penalty with a shot into the top corner to take the lead (31st minute). Just three minutes later, the ball was in the visitors’ goal again. Daniel Francis volleyed a corner from captain Rami Tekir into the net from close range (2-0, 34th). The Wackerians then came dangerously close to goal several more times. First Yilmaz (37th) and then Lorenz (40th) tested goalkeeper Rottensteiner, who made an excellent save. At the start of stoppage time, Lechl made an ideal pass into the penalty area. An Oberland player deflected the ball slightly and Lorenz scored on his Tivoli debut to make it 3-0.

The guests came out of the dressing room a little braver and found a good chance through Stigger after a careless moment in the Wacker back line. But as the game went on, the home team took control again. Lechl tried twice from promising positions (52nd, 57th), but failed to get the ball into the net. In the 61st minute, FCW goalkeeper Lukas Tauber had to stretch to save a dangerous free kick from Alak, but cleared it for a corner. After that, substitutes Lukas Scholl and Bright Owusu were the focus of the Wackerians. With a dream pass, Scholl set up Owusu, who ran off and slotted in to make it 4-0 (64th). Shortly afterwards, Wacker’s new signing was celebrating again. Owusu converted a long pass into the far corner (5-0, 69th). In the final phase, substitute Manuel Petutschnig found another good goal-scoring opportunity with a header. And Luis Gstrein, who came on as a substitute in the 71st minute, also had a great chance on his debut, but still has to wait for his first goal.
