Successful Separation of ‘Juice’ Rocket Commences 8-Year Expedition to Explore Jupiter’s Ice Satellites

The Jupiter satellite probe ‘Juice’ of the European Space Agency, ESA, has embarked on a long 8-year journey to Jupiter, the largest planet in the solar system, on the 14th local time.

The Associated Press and AFP reported that ‘Juice’ was launched into space on an Ariane 5 rocket from the Kourou Space Center in northern French Guiana at around 9:14 am, the scheduled launch time that day.

‘Juice’ was separated from the rocket at an altitude of 1,500 km as planned 27 minutes after launch, and regarding this, Stephen Israel Arianespace CEO said the launch was successful.

The launch of ‘Juice’ was initially scheduled for the morning of the previous day, but was delayed a day due to concerns about lightning strikes near the launch site.

It will arrive in Jupiter’s orbit in July 2031 and will continue its exploration mission for a total of three and a half years.
