Successful Rehabilitation Works Completed on Church Roof in Digosville

Wholesale rehabilitation works have been committed to the level of the roof of thechurch Our Lady of Digosville (Manche) from June 2022.

Work completed on May 31

They have been completed since May 31, 2023 and the result is more than convincing. Moreover, Mayor Serge Martin and his deputy Jean-Claude Estace were full of praise for the companies who worked on the worksitenamely Jonathan Moulin’s Groult company in Tollevast for the roofing (€340,000 including tax), and the Corbin company for the masonry (€70,000).

The firms Louis Laurent (€21,450 excluding tax) and Sophie Hasley (€25,740) were the prime contractors for the project.

The work done is remarkable. I would particularly like to salute the professionalism of the Groult company, which redid the total surface of the roof, ie around 800 m2. The experienced companions were able to transfer their know-how to the apprentices.

To do this, they used slates from Brazil measuring 22 cm x 32 cm and 8 to 12 mm thick. Over 200m²a repair of the joints was carried out on the bell tower and the entablatures.

This large-scale project was partly financed by grants: €70,000 from the CAC, €18,000 from the rural area equipment grant (DETR) and €167,000 from the local investment support grant (DSIL ) as part of the recovery plan.

Lighting to finish

Some renovation works remain to be carried out, they mainly concern thelighting with a passage in Led, a defoaming on 700 m²the change of the cross and the finalization of the signaling of the cemetery.
