The third phase of the national vaccination campaign is rapid vaccination monitoring, which aims to verify vaccination coverage, as well as to identify girls and boys who have not received the vaccine against polio, measles and rubella.
This activity took place on August 16 and 17 at the 7-Health Zonal Coordination, which groups Loja, El Oro and Zamora Chinchipe. The teams from the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) mobilized to 39 cantons of the 17 districts.
The home visit mainly consisted of requesting the presentation of the vaccination certificate to confirm if the minor was inoculated. In case of not having the document, the information was required for its respective validation, details the MSP.
The Vice Minister of Governance and Health Surveillance, Gabriela Aguinaga, toured the cantons of Santa Rosa, Huaquillas, Piñas and Zaruma in the province of El Oro and described the vaccination campaign as successful. “We have seen that in Zonal 7 the objectives were met, with days of great effort and we see that the campaign is going with 95% in the territory,” she indicated.
Aguinaga added that in the cantons of Santa Rosa and Huaquillas, 95% vaccination was exceeded. “This is due to the great commitment of the vaccination brigades and our district directors. I congratulate all the teams because they have had a successful job, ”he said.
The Undersecretary of Surveillance, Francisco Pérez, highlighted the work of health personnel when they arrive with the biological in favor of all children, in order to protect them and contribute to a healthy development. In addition, he visited establishments in Loja, Zamora and Yantzaza to assess vaccination coverage.
Prior to the monitoring day, on August 15, around 600 professionals received training to know the methodology and identify vaccinated children and those who were not, number of children found and coverage obtained from the campaign.
The MSP detailed that Zonal Coordination 7 vaccinated 258,809 girls and boys, with the support of medical brigades from the 282 first-level establishments that toured neighborhoods, communities, and distant sectors. (YO)
