Successful online youth group experiences for children

Under the title “Be there”, there were 4 different offers for the Jungscharkinder and the acolytes during the Easter period. The children could register individually or as a group and take part in the activities that were held online.

“It was important to us to create something for the children that they can look forward to and forget about everyday life. If the youth group cannot take place on site, then we create youth group experiences in digital space, ”says Alexandra Felderer, 3rd chairwoman of the Catholic youth group in South Tyrol.

Felderer emphasizes: “The online actions are not the same as the real meetings, that’s for sure. Nevertheless, the offers were very well received – this is shown by the number of participants and various feedbacks. ”

Colorful program

The program was just as diverse as the children’s interests.

The children were able to be amazed at the magic school “Echt magisch” by the magician Peet Magic and at the same time learn a few tricks themselves.

At “Just dance”, Elsa Platzgummer and Katharina Pernter, representatives of the diocesan instructions of the young crowd, showed the children dance steps to classics and the latest hits.

Closed as a group, the young crowd and mini-groups could register for the digital clown visits with the clowns from Comedicus at “Really comical”.

The children expected a lot of fun and games during the activities. But philosophizing together was not neglected either: as part of the “Really amazing” campaign, short videos suitable for children were created on topics such as faith, moral courage, death and life.

The videos were created by Astrid Gärber, a freelance artist and cultural worker. The 4 videos with the titles “Really unbelievable”, “Really brave”, “Really dead ?!” and “Really alive” are still on the Homepage the young crowd and invite children and adults to philosophize at any time.
