Successful Night for Slovak Hockey Players in AHL Season Opener

On the night from Friday to Saturday, the new AHL season also started overseas. The opening game day brought a rich portion of twelve duels, in which up to eight Slovak hockey players presented themselves. It was a relatively successful night for the Slovaks. Two of them decided the victories of their teams, one assisted.

A fresh returner to the farm Simon Nemec appeared in his Utica Comets jersey on home ice against the Syracuse Crunch team. His New Jersey Devils farm lost twice, once even by two goals. The duel finally went to extra time, in which the guests managed it better. They won 4:3. The Slovak defender did not make a significant mark in the statistics. In the first period, he was suspended for two minutes for holding a hockey stick and shot at the goal once in the match.

After struggling with injuries, it was finally possible to Martin Pospíšil fight his way back into the Calgary Wranglers starting line-up and after a good preparation he could look forward to the new season. In addition, he once again shot at the goal, where Oskari Salminen was standing.

In terms of goals, the Slovaks were successful only in the west. One example is Miloš Kelemen, who in the Tucson Roadrunners jersey decided on a 3:2 victory on the ice of the Texas Stars. It was precisely the precise strike of the Slovak attacker that was classified as the winner. Apart from him, Miloš Kelemen recorded one plus and threatened the opponent’s goal twice.

Marián Studenič changed employers in the AHL and first played for the Seattle Kraken farm, for the Coachella Valley Firebirds. However, the Slovak winger started the season with a Canadian point, assisting on the first accurate shot of his team. He threatened the opponent’s goal twice.

At the end of the day, or, for the Slovak audience, the night, came the best. Two Slovaks played against each other, Martin Chromiak for and against Ontario Reign Pavol Regenda in a San Diego Gulls jersey. Already the opening third clearly showed who has more steps to success. Pavol Regenda opened the score of the meeting with a power play goal, then in the second period increased the score to 0:2 with a precise shot in the numerical disadvantage of his team. In addition to the two goals, he also added five shots on goal. That Martin Chromiak did not enter the statistics. He ended the duel with one minus and two shots on goal.
