Successful ‘Music Meets Wine’ Charity Event Raises Funds for Children in Need in Senegal

“Pleasingly many guests in a good mood, lots of helping hands, excellent wines from the Traisental, good food, music with friends and a donation result that far exceeded our expectations – a great success,” says Xaver Lahmer, President of the children’s aid organization Dimbale.com, returned to the open-air charity event in the courtyard of his house in Großrust with satisfaction. For the first time it was held under the motto “Music meets wine”.

The band “i Filoi” was responsible for the musical part. The name of the band, which consists of Gudrun Lahmer, Günther Haschner, Martin Luger, Johann Sodbeck and Xaver Lahmer, comes from Greek and means “the friends”. On some numbers they were also supported by Martin Fischer on the electric guitar and Marcel Kaiser with his vocals. They all made themselves available free of charge.

“We were particularly supported by the winemakers Weinhof Martina and Christian Dockner from Theyern, Weingut Andreas and Marlies Holzer and Weingut/Heurigen Matthias Getzinger — both from Nussdorf — as well as Heurigen Irene and Martin Kaiser from Einöd. They, like – once again – the Volksbank Herzogenburg with bank branch manager Wolfgang Keiblinger and Johann Andert from Getzersdorf were committed to the concerns of our children’s aid organization with his fruit juices and fine brandies,” continued Lahmer. The event was organized by the team around Dimbale.com. “A big thank you goes out to all the helpers and the board.”

100 percent of the donation proceeds will go to children in need in Senegal as part of school enrollment next fall. “Thanks to the great support of our guests and sponsors, we can enable hundreds of students to attend school for another year,” says Lahmer happily with the board. As part of this charity event, the guests and the team of organizers also celebrated Dimbale’s 15th anniversary and the associated charity walk by Willi Triml and Xaver Lahmer. In 2008, they walked 5,517 kilometers to Senegal as a starting project. Further information about the aid projects and the association can be found at www.dimbale.com.
