Thoracic diseases and surgeons at King Fahd Specialist Hospital in Buraidah, Saudi Arabia, using the laparoscopic technique, succeeded in extracting a metal ring from the chest of a patient in his seventies, ending the symptoms of chest infection and the chronic cough he had been suffering from for more than three years. The Qassim Health Cluster stated that the patient (73 years old) came to the emergency department in the hospital suffering from an increase in the severity of these symptoms, and after completing the initial clinical examination, he was referred for the necessary examinations and a chest x-ray.
The group reported that the results of the examinations and x-rays clearly showed the presence of a metal ring inside the chest, and it remained stable in the patient’s diaphragm for a period of more than three years, when it was necessary to carry out surgical intervention.
