Successful Hirscher coach Pircher becomes the new RS trainer for ÖSV men

The giant men’s slalom team from Austria is now being trained by Michael Pircher. The ÖSV announced on Monday. The 44-year-old from Styria, Marcel Hirscher’s success coach from 2012 to 2019, is the successor to the Tyrolean Benjamin Prantner.

Andreas Puelacher, the sporting director of the ÖSV men, commented on this decision: “The results in the giant slalom team were not as we had imagined. We therefore decided to fill the team of trainers anew. With Michael Pircher we have an absolute specialist and a very experienced and successful trainer. ”

Pircher is looking forward to the challenge. “When I was asked if I wanted to do this, I was initially surprised and had to swallow. My second reaction was a great pleasure because it is not an easy task, but a very attractive one for me. ”

Pircher is supported by Ferdinand Hirscher – Marcel’s father – as well as Günther Steiner (fitness and ski training) and Josef Percht-Jurlov (physiotherapist). Last season the Austrians in RS were far from the top of the world. Roland Leitinger finished the discipline world cup as the best Austrian in 17th place.
