Last Friday, the graduation ceremony for the graduates took place in the playground of the Obernburg am Main technical and vocational school. The FOS/BOS Obernburg graduation ceremony was held for the fourth time in the school’s festively decorated courtyard. In midsummer temperatures, 62 students, their parents, trainers and teachers were happy about the successful completion of the FOSBOS.
The deputy headmaster OStR Esra Lang welcomed the guests. He wished all graduates a cheerful and unforgettable evening. “Every beginning is difficult, but after the 1st step it gets better. Life is a series of challenges and has successes and setbacks in store, but they are now mature individuals with knowledge, experience and maturity – hence ‘Fachhochschulreife’”, he stated in his speech.
The 1st school girl Elsa Klingmeier and Kim Schnorr led through the program and at the end of the event, together with Franz Zimlich, also held the student speech.
StRin Cornelia Schwarz explained what the empty chair in the ranks of the graduates is all about: It remained free for Philip Schulz, a classmate who unfortunately passed away last year. Cornelia Schwarz remembered the student with moving words.
District administrator Jens Marco Scherf was happy “to be able to be here. The FOSBOS is a special school with special students, so I am particularly happy to be here today, especially since I also graduated from high school exactly 30 years ago. There are three things that are important: 1. You have graduated from high school. 2. What you make of it is up to you; and 3. You are not alone, there are comrades, friends, teachers and family who are there for you. Be proud of yourself.”
The. 2. Mayor of Obernburg, Christopher Jany congratulated with the words: “Today is your day, what you have done is a ‘mature achievement’. You had to adjust to a lot of new things, but that makes you fit for life. Do what makes you happy, because then you will do it well”.
Congratulations also came from the parents’ council chairman Roland Seyfried: “35 years ago I was sitting down here and my father gave the speech as the parents’ council chairman. He was proud and happy then and I’m sure your parents are too now. Be happy and find the people you want to be there for”.
“This is a new phase of life with more freedom and many opportunities, but also more responsibility. It is the ideal basis for your path”, with these words the first chairman of the association, Thomas Beilharz, congratulated the graduates.
After the honors for the best in class and school, the certificates were handed over.
During the student speech that followed, Elsa Klingmeier, Kim Schnorr and Franz Zimlich stated: “It was a time full of nervous breakdowns, but also a good time. We have learned that we are stronger together. We had work and fun together. It’s important to enjoy life. Thank you to everyone who has supported us.”
